A true death by dragon awaits nearly everyone in House of the Dragon, but only one fell in the finale. Is this a precursor of death to come, or a blip on the underbelly of a glorious house?

 

We all met our death by dragon, as we were not given the war that we were promised. But I must say, the two queens were very true to themselves and to their families. Unlike a man who would probably chop off a head a la Daemon, they kept an even keel. They tried to stop murder and preserve peace. This is good. But Aemon murdered his cousin. His dragon ate the hell out of that thing. Dragon death! Rhaenyra is going to be out for blood. The Hightowers are going to die. Aemon is going to die. Daemon is going to die. I do think Queen Alicent will survive. She will be exiled to Old Town where one of her sons currently resides. Who will end up sitting the throne? It will be Rhaenyra, but she won’t sit it for very long. Super super cool setup for season two of House of the Dragon.

When you have ten dragons, only dragon battles will lead to your downfall. The poison seed in the House of the Dragon is both obvious and secret. We know Daemon was bad blood, but now he’s keeping the best interests of the family in mind. Aemon has taken his place as an imminent threat, although this “new” king will be the first to fall. Too much prosperity has left Westeros prone to attack, mainly from within. Prince Aemon threatens to undermine everything.

Greed and power hunger sink empires, so are we witnessing the beginning of the end? Or is this succession plan the start of a new chapter of bad ass queens ruling with an iron fist? Each decision parallels the future that we know and love, making this show all that more enveloping and interesting. We even got a warning about the coming winter… which may begin sooner than later.
