The Offer Episode 5 is here and we’re breaking down fact or fiction. So many great nuggets of truth in this episode and some fabrications too! I love how they are telling this story and I’m super excited we’re getting to the actual making of The Godfather.
The Godfather family dinner is a fact! Once the casting was set everyone did get together for a dinner and they all did fall into their roles of who they play in the movie. I love that this happened and that it happened like that. It’s such an interesting dynamic.
Was Paramount really up for sale? This is a fact, but the details are changed. Paramount was up for sale, but it was prior to Love Story and The Godfather being made. The meeting they show references even with Love Story being huge, but it was really Rosemary’s Baby that they referenced. I understand why they changed the timeline for the show.

Joe Colombo really did spring a press conference on Al Ruddy like that. I love that they’ve added this element in and it is fact. Though what is not fact is that The Godfather did not have mob guys that were production assistants. That is added to the show for dramatic effect!
