Spirited Christmas Movie Musical is a near miss. Another adaptation of A Christmas Carol and while this one is fun it still leaves a us with feelings of regret. The actors nail the characters, but when it comes to the singing there is something to be desired.

 

Spirited Christmas movie musical is a near miss. I love A Christmas Carol and there is once again another adaptation. I love musicals so much and when they’re Christmas movies that’s even better, but this one felt so forced. The idea for this film is so cute and good, but the execution is just okay.

This is definitely a fun Christmas movie, but first it’s a bit too long. At 2 hours it dragged a bit. My biggest gripe is the singing! I really don’t like it when they cast actors who can’t sing for musicals. Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds definitely bring it, but they can’t sing. I kept thinking it’d been much better if they dubbed when with super famous singers.

Otherwise the story is pretty predictable. We’ve all seen one of the many versions of A Christmas Carol and while this one puts its own twist on it, it doesn’t leave me wanting to re-watch it every year. It’s a cute idea, but it falls flat for me.
