We now know part one of Lord Boreal’s master plan, but what is his true hidden agenda in His Dark Materials season 2? My predictions run wild in your episode 3 reaction.

 

Lord Boreal’s hidden agenda was finally revealed in His Dark Materials season 2, but I’m predicting it’s only the first step in his master plan. Boreal befriended Lyra to steal her alethiometer so she would come searching for it with Will, so they would retrieve the world-slicing knife from the mystery man in the bell tower. If the alethiometer is so inconsequential to Boreal, then his plans are far grander than one all-powerful knife. The mystery of His Dark Materials season 2 is just unraveling. Boreal has a massive collection of artifacts, meaning he had time to collect them all. He also could care less about the alethiometer, meaning he himself can already communicate with dust. He has witch-like powers and is far older than any normal human. I believe he is former friends with Will’s dad, who has also embraced the ways of the witch. Will’s dad is stepping between the bell tower and Lyra’s home world, by way of the knife, and has unleashed the specters to prevent Boreal from coming to get him and the knife. But WHAT does Boreal truly want the knife for? Who is he after? This mystery runs deep into the fabric of time and our interconnected worlds.

The great thing about His Dark Materials is that its not abiding by traditional rules. Season one pulled from every book in the series, not just the first. That means season two will be full of even more surprises! I have not read a page of this series, so my reactions are genuine.
