Get Addicted to Working Out!

I’ve always loved physical activity. I can admit now that I even liked gym class growing up. I loved playing sports and being active and I’ve been addicted to working out forever. Get addicted!

Some of the best times I had growing up were playing outside with my brothers. We spent hours outside together. My older brother taught me how to play basketball, throw a baseball, catch a football and so much more. One summer the three of us decided to ride our bikes everywhere, so we did! It didn’t matter how hot it was, we’d spend hours riding around and end up getting ice cream or at the baseball card shop. I loved physical activity even back then, but I never realized how much exercise I was getting. I never realized I was addicted to it.

My first experience going to the gym was also with my brothers. I didn’t have time in my school schedule to play a winter sport, so I decided to get a gym membership. My mom agreed, but said she’d only get it for me if I was actually going to use it. I took that to heart kids! I went to the gym five days a week and I loved it. From then on, anytime I wasn’t playing a sport I’d reactivate my gym membership. My goal was always to go five days a week!

The best thing I learned at an early age was not to care what anyone else was doing at the gym. I started out going to a very male heavy gym and the weight room was full of your classic gym guys. That never mattered to me! I didn’t let it phase me one bit. I was there to get my workout in.

Even though I always loved being active, it really was my early days at the gym that solidified my addiction to working out. I always looked forward to getting my sweat on! Starting at such a young age ingrained the fun of working out in me and the amazing feeling you get. But you can get this feeling at any age and learn the fun of exercise. Get addicted!

Not only have I always had fun working out, but I’ve always made time to exercise. When I was younger it was certainly a lot easier to set aside that time, but I’ve never let that sidetrack me. It’s why I work out in the morning. It fits with me and with my schedule. It’s easy for me to get up and workout right away. If I can’t do that, then I still set aside time later in my day to exercise. I’ve ingrained that in myself.

I can remember people using the word obsessed when they learned that I would always set aside time for the gym. If obsessed means I’m addicted, then I am totally fine with that! I lump working out into eating and sleeping. Its something I do without even thinking about it. Its part of my daily life.

Even if you didn’t start at a young age, there is always time to get addicted to working out. There are so many different activities you can do! It doesn’t have to be straight going to the gym. That’s the best part about our day and age. There is a fitness revolution going on out there. It seems like a new workout studio opens up every week! Get out there and find what you’re addicted to!

Now is the perfect time to get addicted to working out! Find what you love and what makes you feel amazing. Then set aside that time for you and give yourself the gift of fitness this holiday season! Get addicted to exercise. You’ll never regret it.
