It’s time to be a Fit Mom. All about breastfeeding while working out. It’s our BuzzChomp fitness vlog.
I’ve read a lot about breastfeeding and working out. Is it safe to breastfeed and workout? Yes of course it is! I can understand the concern. Breastfeeding is such a great way to bond and feed your baby but unfortunately not every woman can breastfeed. Some have problems with their supply, some babies just don’t click, and some get infection or don’t produce any milk.
For those of us that successfully breastfeed we don’t want to risk our supply! First don’t worry about it so much. Second you won’t risk your supply as long as you’re smart about it. Make sure you eat enough! Breastfeeding burns 500-600 calories a day but you can’t eat like that and remind yourself of that even when you’re working out. You want to make sure you’re getting enough calories.
Remind yourself to drink a lot of water too. Breastfeeding makes me super thirsty and working out makes me super thirsty. I definitely have to remind myself to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Your milk is primarily water. It hydrates your baby so makes sure you are hydrated too!
Breastfeeding and working out go hand and hand. You do one for your baby and you do the other for you! Just be smart about both. Keep yourself healthy for yourself and your baby!
