Homemade is Always Better

While drinking plain coffee is healthy, this may depend on the creams and sugars you intend to add. In case you want to add a little cream in your coffee, there are several flavored coffee creamer recipes to make at home. All you need to make your own coffee creamer is:

  • 2 cups Half and Half
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Simply combine the ingredients in a saucepan and stir on low heat. Allow the creamer mixture to cool and store in a glass for up to seven days.

Prevents Cavity Development

According to a study found on the Scientific American, coffee can help prevent the spread of microbes in the human mouth. This, in turn, minimizes dental cavities’ development. The Robusta coffee that is grown in Vietnam and Brazil is actually able to break through the plaque that has built up on the teeth due to the polyphenols chemical of sugary foods.

Rich In Nutrients

There are several nutrients that are easily gotten from drinking coffee. These nutrients include the following:

  • Phosphorous
  • Magnesium
  • Manganese
  • Vitamin B2
  • Vitamin B3

Drinking 8 ounces of coffee will give you 11% of the recommended intake of these nutrients on a daily basis.

Drinking Coffee Can Lessen Your Risk of Getting Sick

There is a link between an individual’s disease risk and coffee intake, according to a study from Harvard University. The study included diseases and conditions such as depression, stroke, cancer, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and heart disease. The findings of the research showed that coffee intake significantly reduces the risk of developing the above conditions or illnesses.

High in Antioxidants

Coffee is packed with more antioxidants as compared to vegetables and fruits. In America, coffee drinkers get more antioxidants from coffee than from vegetables and fruits because they fail to eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. A majority of Americans do not consume the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables as they should. Having a simple cup of coffee drink is a quick way for you to get a boost of antioxidants that your body really needs to function optimally.

How Many Cups of Coffee Is Recommended?

According to a study that was carried out by researchers from Edinburgh and Southampton Universities, people who consumed between 3 to 4 cups of coffee daily were likely to reap huge health benefits. When experts study the effects of coffee consumption, they will usually measure the effects of coffee drinking on the basis of 8-ounce cups. For example, these travel mugs contain approximately 100 milligrams of caffeine when filled with coffee.

 

Clearly, drinking coffee in moderation is generally good for your health. However, do not have 6 to 10 cups of coffee daily as this will negate all the benefits that you will have received from moderate coffee consumption. In case you are not a fan of coffee drinking, and are particularly caffeine sensitive, adding coffee to your regular diet might not be a good decision for you.
