They actually made the supernatural a reality! Not only was there a grounded explanation for murder, but we fell into a supernatural hole as well. True Detective Night Country nailed both.

 

The ghosts were real and we fell right over the edge into oblivion! True Detective Night Country basically killed us and then resurrected us deep within the ice caves where an ancient spirit resides. Murders were solved and then the unthinkable happened.

Thirty days of night means everything is spookier and there’s literally nothing around to explain away these deaths. We’re in the arctic and its too damn cold! True Detective Night Country wants us to believe the myths and legends and mystery, but something very real and simple must be to blame. Or is it both things?

The mysteries of True Detective are very grounded, with real and explicit explanations. We just don’t get one until the very end! Will True Detective Night Country break the mold? Its unlikely, so expect the horrific plot twists to keep coming as one mystical explanation after another gets eliminated.
