True Detective Night Country provides us with a mysterious and gruesome death, yet smears it in supernatural overtones. This show is grounded, so we know something more real is going on! Plot twist, it involves a polar bear and a woman seeing ghosts. With barely any clues besides a tongue, I’m firmly on the edge of my seat wondering how anyone died.

Thirty days of night have begun, meaning everything is spookier and there’s literally nothing around to explain away these deaths. We’re in the arctic and its too damn cold! True Detective Night Country wants us to believe the myths and legends and mystery, but something very real and simple must be to blame. If only we had a clue.

The mysteries of True Detective are very grounded, with real and explicit explanations. We just don’t get one until the very end! Will True Detective Night Country break the mold? Its unlikely, so expect the horrific plot twists to keep coming as one mystical explanation after another gets eliminated.
