The Walking Dead Season 8 did it! They really veered from the comics on this one. Rick Grimes won’t lose his hand like he did in the comics, but Carl is Rick’s hand and he’s losing him instead.
Carl is one of those Walking Dead characters that is a miss. There are moments of the strong bad ass Carl of the comics, but most of the time he’s extremely whiney. I’m not sure if it is the actor or writing, but he’s a miss most of the time.

I always thought that since Carl is such a prominent figure in the comics and becomes an even bigger figure as time goes on that that’s how it would be in the TV series. I thought Carl is SAVE from death. Well I was wrong!

Rick is different on the TV show than in the comics. A lot of that is attributed to the fact that Rick has both of his hands in the show. In the comic he has one hand and he’s a battered/broken man. He’s not that man in the show. Not yet.
Killing Carl is basically cutting off Rick’s hand. Carl will have that same effect and then some. I’m not convinced on this decision as it completely changes the show. I love The Walking Dead season 8, but this might be the beginning of the end.
