The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Episode 4 solidifies Serena’s death sentence! This feels like a Harry Potter/Lord Voldemort situation. One cannot live while the other lives. This whole series will come down to June vs. Serena and I think Serena sealed her fate here.

Serena now a Gilead representation will open a Gilead cultural center in Canada. It’s a building that Gilead owns pre-war and Canada as well as other nations open themselves up back to Gilead, especially after how well Fred’s funeral was. People see that Gilead’s birth rates are better than everyone else.
With Serena basically free, this infuriates June. June releases her anger and violence. She can’t let it go. June experiences a Gilead’s followers ignorance and it enrages her so. She’s violent toward her and she can’t stop herself.

June’s violence boils up and over throughout this episode until the end when her and Luke confront Serena. June wants to kill her, but she doesn’t. The biggest mistake here is that Serena underestimates June and Luke together. They want Hannah back and they will stop at nothing.
