Swim away on an unexpected workout!

 

I’ve talked about it before and it’s always amazing: the unexpected workout! It happens all the time during outdoor adventures and is the easiest to obtain during these wonderful summer months. Plus, it’s so simple! I’ve done it a thousand times since I was a child, whether hiking, frolicking, or hitting the pool. Swimming is refreshing and great exercise, so do it kids! Hop on in the pool and swim away!

Swimming is one of my favorite summer activities and a great, unexpected workout. For years I wanted a pool, and for the last three I’ve had one to share in my apartment complex. SCORE! I love to just hop on in that pool, swim around, and cool off during the hot summer months. But not only is it super fun, I’m also getting a workout in without even trying. YEAH! I could spend hours in the pool just swimming around, and if there are other people with me, it’s a great way to socialize and all have fun. Time to get wet!

If you’re lucky enough to have a pool, get out there and try swimming laps. Its one my fitness goals, to swim more laps, and it’s definitely a hard and solid workout. The best part is, you’re in the water so you don’t even realize how hard you’re working. There’s no sweat dripping off of you, no sun burning you up, but you’ll for sure feel the fitness burn. Trust me! You’ll feel it.

Even if you’re not into swimming laps and just love to lounge and swim around in the pool, you’re still getting that unexpected workout! It’s so easy to lose track of time in the pool and just let yourself go. Be free. If you’re having friends over to hit the pool, totally get a volleyball net and play volleyball, or get one of those floating basketball hoops and play away! I love those! I’ve even had fun playing some good old Marco Polo, throwing it back to the old days.

Lounging and swimming around in the pool is definitely one of my all time favorite things to do. It’s relaxing and fun! You lose track of time and it’s a way better way to experience the dog days of summer than sitting inside in your air-conditioned house. So get out there people! If you don’t have a pool, find a friend who does! It’s such a wonderful way to spend these long summer afternoons and you’ll get an awesome workout in without even trying.
