Slimmed Down Baked Chicken Wings!

Look no further, this baked chicken wings recipe is THE healthy version of wings you’ve been dreaming about. So much flavor and deliciousness packed in a slimmed down version of wings.

There was a time in my life when I was obsessed with all things chicken wings, but then I got food poisoning. Not once, not twice, but three times these wings did me in. Since they were never healthy, I decided we needed a break. My cravings never went away, so recently we reconnected and chicken wings are back on my plate! But I needed a healthy version to make at home, because that’s how we roll. I’m obsessing over making baked chicken wings and love this slimmed down recipe of my own creation.

Chicken wings are SUPER easy to make, and so is keeping all the flavor with a healthy recipe. I’m picky about my chicken though. I only buy organic hormone-free chicken. I think it’s worth it and it’s my personal preference. There is one trick to making awesome chicken wings, however. Marinate those bad boys over night!

Ingredients:
1 pound chicken wings
1 cup of Frank’s Red Hot wing sauce
2 tablespoons black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon hot sauce (Frank’s Red Hot)

Preparation:
Mix all of the ingredients in a large gallon plastic bag. Squeeze the air out and then seal. Make sure it is SEALED and then shake the bag up. Make sure the chicken is completely covered. Put the bag into the fridge overnight. That’s it kids. That’s the real work. You can’t marinate too long.

Lay out your marinated chicken on a greased baking sheet and drizzle any of the leftover mixture on top. Bake those bad boys at 400 degrees F for 40 minutes. Flip after 20 minutes. You want them to be crispy, so you may have to add time. The best part about this recipe is, you’ll be able to hear the wings sizzling in the oven, almost identical to a frying sound.

There is really no work to these. You just want to make sure that they are deliciously seasoned! I served mine with a little blue cheese dressing for dipping, and I made a side salad to go along with them. It was a perfect dinner. The only thing disappointing was that there were no leftovers! I would have loved to enjoy them again. Next time I will double the recipe so I have more for another meal.

My obsession is back and these baked chicken wings are perfect! I’m excited to try other versions, but this version is delicious and I’ll be hard pressed to find another one that tops it. For me, it’s all about the spice, while still being able to enjoy the chicken.

Remember to actually marinate them overnight. A part of me wanted to just bake them after an hour in the fridge, but I restrained myself and it was so worth it. These slimmed down baked chicken wings are perfect for dinner, parties, or even for your upcoming BBQs!
