Your Monster is perfectly over da top! This film opens in theaters this Friday October 25th and it’s definitely a fun horror comedy and perfect if you’re not into super scary films.

Your Monster, which opens in theaters this Friday October 25th, is a fun horror comedy that tackles dark themes. Yet, it’s perfectly over the top! The acting is really nice and it’s written and directed by Caroline Lindy. Melissa Barrera stars as Laura, a woman who has cancer. This leads her boyfriend to break up with her, which of course gets horribly worse. From that break up comes the realization that Laura won’t be the lead in her ex Jacob’s Broadway musical. Now we have betrayal!

Meghann Fahy is perfectly cast as Jackie Dennon, the big star who gets Laura’s role, which Jacob aptly named Laurie. There are a lot of really good moments in this film, including sneaky funny ones. I like seeing Barrera in a bit of a different role, one that’s sillier, and she leans into this nicely.

Your Monster is fun and definitely leans into the romantic comedy side hard. This adds a really nice touch to the movie, but doesn’t detract from the scary elements.
