It’s time for us to dive into Lovecraft Country and it’s world inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft plus the horrors of the Jim Crow laws. Lovecraft Country looks scary good and I can’t wait to explore this new HBO show brought to us by the creative team of Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams. Armed with a scary trailer and a really awesome cast, this show makes me super excited to watch. The journey of the story follows Atticus Freeman, played by Jonathan Freeman, as he goes on a quest to find his missing father, played by Michael Kenneth Williams. Hello Omar from The Wire. Atticus is a Korean War vet, has a big heart, and is a fan of pulp novels. He’s joined by political activist and artist Letty, played by Jurnee Smollett, and his uncle played by Courtney B. Vance.

This cast is amazing. I’m super excited to see how they meld the real horrors of these three African Americans traveling during Jim Crow times with the fantasy and horror of monsters and ghosts. Atticus and his friends are obviously going to encounter horrors on all fronts as they search for his dad.
I LOVE a good scare. What a great way to bring us into the fall. I’ve avoided reading too much about the novel which the show is based on, because I want to have an unbiased opinion of the events as well as the presentation of the show.
