It’s no secret that I love working out and think it is the best medicine for physical and mental well-being. But not everyone enjoys the physical activity and even more people go on fad diets to help them lose weight without working out. This is not what I’m suggesting at all! It’s easier to lose weight than we all realize and you don’t need a fad diet to do it. Here’s how to lose weight without working out!
Losing weight comes down to what you eat! This is no secret, but I’m still amazed that a lot of people out there are looking for a quick fix when it comes to losing weight. It is imperative that you are honest with yourself if you want to lose weight without working out. You must be honest when looking at what you eat. For a long time I was not honest about what I ate and while I ate healthy, I often let myself over-indulge. These indulgences were what always held me back.
Once I became honest with myself about my food, I was able to embrace easy weight loss regardless of exercise. A major part of that is looking at your portion size. If you’re single or in a relationship, it can be a bit difficult to gauge your portions. I love making dinner for Dan and myself, but when I first started I would always just split it right down the middle. This is a big NO, especially since my man weighs a significant amount more than I do. There is no way I should or need to eat the same amount as him.
I always suggest using an app like MyFitnessPal to set a goal for yourself. MyFitnessPal is awesome and you can put in your current weight, your goal weight, and it will tell you how many calories you need to consume daily to lose the weight you want. This opened up my eyes to the portions of what I ate. I used to think that if I snacked it was an extra 100-200 calories, but it was actually upwards of 400-500 calories. I didn’t need those calories and that was the place where I needed to cut out.
The key to losing weight without working out is that you need to revamp how and what you eat, but once you implement a healthy diet, you won’t miss all that junk food. You won’t be able to eat as much, but you will still be full. We live in a supersized world and I can’t fathom how some people eat these huge portions that are served out. When I do go to a restaurant that has huge portions, I always end up bringing home another meal! I love that because I can enjoy it all over again.
It truly is simple to lose weight without working out because if you embrace fruits and veggies as a main staple of your meals, you’ll naturally have more energy, feel full, and dramatically lose weight. I always make sure that my veggies are the biggest portion of my meal. When you’re first starting out on this journey, I’d definitely make sure that most of your meals revolve around a big plate of veggies. Portion out your rice, pasta, and bread by making sure you stick to one serving. Once you get into the swing of this lifestyle, you can open yourself up to a larger portion, but you really won’t want to.
All of this boils down to being present when you eat. No more emotional eating and no more saying one more handful of chips. Make sure you measure out that serving if you want those chips and own the portion you eat. If you have a day where you go a bit overboard, let it go and get back to your plan. I always say it, but make sure you drink a lot of water too!
You don’t have to go on a fancy diet, you don’t need anyone making your own meals, and skip those meal delivery services. Be cognizant of what you eat and be honest with yourself. Embrace veggies, fruits, and lean meats! Once you shift your diet, you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to lose weight without working out. It just takes a dedication to healthier eating, less sugar and a dose of honesty.
