Has the game restarted? Master Chief is once again being black balled, the Covenant is hiding, no one is dead, and everyone is losing their minds. Halo season 2 is deja vu, a mass manipulation of humanity.

 

I’m having deja vu with Halo season 2. The Covenant is quite obviously preparing an invasion, yet no one believes Master Chief and the entire human world has its head up its butt. The monsters are in the dark, fracturing humanity while working their master plan. But even the human monsters are hiding. Soren gets taken. Halsey is MIA. John is once again isolated. Did we restart the game?

But wait, there’s more! Now Halsey is a prisoner of those claiming she’s dead. Soren is MIA and Makee is training her Covenant for the ultimate destruction of humanity. Has she gone rogue? Will John reunite with Cortana, who is also a prisoner? The stories feel familiar, but the circumstances have changed. Halo season 2 is spinning us in circles.

We practically abandoned the wild circumstances that concluded season 1 of Halo, but not entirely. John is having hallucinations of what was and what will be. Is he in control of his own mind? There aren’t enough human Spartans to actually fight the Covenant. How will humanity survive Halo season 2?

This series is a great example of video game turned television show, embodying what made the game unique, but adding a does of its own unique science fiction.
