A Real Pain Is A Golden Age Indie Film
The Golden Age of Indie Films is back, because A Real Pain is a true gem. Its funny, gritty, weird and uncomfortable in all the right ways.
‘A Real Pain’ is a gem and a movie straight out of the golden age of indie film. Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin are absolutely fabulous together. This is a film that truly knows what it is and what it wants to be. It’s a gem in a sea of long and slow films, which this movie is the opposite.

Every single character you meet in ‘A Real Pain’ shows you who they are, but more importantly, we really understand what type of person they are. I absolutely love that about this movie and I feel that so many films, especially indie films, lack real developed characters. Jesse Eisenberg’s direction is great, plus this movie is funny and gritty and fun to watch. A Real Pain is well done and such a great story.

Too often a movie is too long or ignores the other people in it, not including its leads, but this film does everything just right. Not only is ‘A Real Pain’ relatable and dark at times, but its quirky and silly and in your face with its dynamic portrayal of depression. Let me know what you thought and check out my review video.
