Diary of a Running Chick: November 20th, 2017

Mindset can make or break you, so I’m constantly working on my own. Often I have the mindset that because I run daily, I should be running over 4 miles a day. The mileage doesn’t matter! I used to wake up super early when I “needed” more time to run. But its the journey, not the destination. Having a baby has made me a lot more flexible with how far I run, which is great! I’ve learned to embrace the short run and you should too. Sometimes it is much easier to just go out and run for thirty to forty minutes. That’s it. No strings attached. Embrace those amazing, short runs. It’s another of our great running tips.

My short runs are of course variations on my longer runs. This allows me to use the time I have available that day. You need to already know what your short run will be. When you’re setting yourself up for success, this is one of the great running tips. I know I can get lost in my runs. You want to make sure you know at which point you’re going to turn around or veer off, in order to make your run shorter.
