Every new episode of The Handmaid’s Tale pushes the boundaries in Gilead. Our The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 Ep 10 ‘Witness’ highlights focus on how sex crosses the line. The episode revolves all around Fred Waterford and him crossing that line.
The Waterfords have moved up in the ranks since they’ve spent their time in Washington DC. Fred has Commander Winslow’s ear and they’ve come to Boston for a visit. Fred starts to flexing his muscles first by showing Winslow all the Handmaids.

Its during the Handmaids visit that we see Fred still having a massive obsession with June. He tells her he can get her transferred to DC. He focuses right in on her and goes as far as telling Winslow that he doesn’t think Commander Lawrence is doing the ceremony.
Basically Fred, suggest they witness the ceremony. This is highly unusual and a serious crossing the line. It’s the sex act that crosses everyones line. The Lawrences are done with Gilead, June has the means now to get kids out, and Serena wants her and Fred to use her US contact.
This episode was definitely hard to watch because Fred and Winslow crossed the line and this sex line might mean the beginning of the end for Gilead. It definitely will send shock waves through the government of Gilead.
What do you all think about how sex crosses the line for every single person involved? Only a few more episodes left of The Handmaid’s Tale. Where will this season end?
