Hit Your Running Stride for Summer! My Running Diary

No matter if you’ve been running a lot this year or not, now is the perfect time to hit your running stride for summer. Take advantage of the extra daylight hours to go for a run!

My Running Diary: June 4th, 2018

Running in the summer is my favorite because I love to run in shorts and a tank top. I find that to be my optimal dress for a really great run. Now don’t get me wrong, I won’t let the cold negatively affect my runs, but I do embrace the summer weather. I definitely am more likely to be lax with my runs if the weather isn’t nice, but in Los Angeles we rarely have rain in the summer. Its beautiful and warm and there is extra daylight everywhere, so use it to hit your running stride!

Since having my baby, I haven’t run at all in the afternoons and I don’t see myself doing that this summer. Therefore, I’m always ready to embrace my early morning runs. It gets hot early in Los Angeles, so running in the morning is always my favorite time of day. I also find that it’s easier to get out of bed early in the morning, especially now that its sunny early.

I look forward to getting out the door as early as I can during summer mornings because it really does help me hit my running stride. The best part is at the beginning of those early morning runs. The sun is just starting to come up and it’s still cooler from the evening. As I get farther into my run, the warmth overtakes the morning. I always find that I end just as I’ve built up a really great sweat.

The fact that the weather can warm up so much throughout my run helps me hit my stride faster. It’s what makes summer running so optimal. Once I really start working up a sweat, I push a little faster, a little harder, and definitely enjoying running quicker. That being said, I also find myself with a bit more time in the summer and love to add more long runs into my regime.

During these summer months, hitting my run stride just feels easier. I crave getting outside and embrace it! I’m headed out of Los Angeles a bunch later in the summer and I know that I will be able to run everywhere I go. That pushes me to make sure that my stamina is up and I’m taking every opportunity to go for my runs!

Running in the summer is a perfect time to really hit your stride. There are so many opportunities to run and it’s also just so nice outside. I’m not the biggest fan of running in the humidity, but since I won’t have many opportunities to do it, I’m definitely looking forward to doing so when we go visit the east coast.

Hit your run stride this summer by embracing that beautiful weather. Let go of any excuses you often let get in the way and just embrace running. That’s always how I live my summer months, with the goal to just run. It really keeps me motivated throughout the summer and helps me sustain my run stride all the way through.

Great update. I love running in the early morning, especially in the summer. It’s a great feeling to see and feel the world wake up as you go further and further. Plus, if I let myself wait intun the afternoon/evening I will talk myself out of going all together. Best to get out early and start the day off right.
