I love the New Year. It’s always filled with endless possibilities, and reminds me of the circle of life and how we just keep going round and round. Even though it’s easy to just continue along status quo, it’s equally as easy to shake things up in the New Year without making dramatic changes. Most of the time shifting your mindset and doing things a little differently will make a huge difference. Here are 5 New Year’s Tips to start your year off strong!
Let go of the Previous Year. It’s so easy to obsess over what happened last year. It’s a trap we all fall into. Over analyzing what wrong on. Living too much in a given moment of good or bad. Now is the time to let it all go. Accept everything that happened. Embrace your accomplishments and then embrace another year. It’s time to move forward! The act of telling yourself to move forward wipes the slate clean and is a great way to not live in the past.
Get Organized. This is a favorite one of mine. I love organizing my closets, but find that it takes a lot more effort to physically do it, hence putting it off. I know I actually want to spend the time to organize everything, and the New Year is perfect for this. It’s a great way to take stock of what you have and also to purge yourself and your life. I love a good New Year’s purge! I feel light and ready to tackle the year.
Take some You Time. This is something that I love to do, but I find it’s missing in a lot of peoples’ lives. Make sure you set aside time for yourself. It’s a must in order to be strong. If you can’t be with just yourself and love yourself, then who will? An easy way to embrace this is by setting a calendar notification for yourself. Start weekly, then progress up to daily, setting aside twenty to thirty minutes for you. One great use of this time is a morning workout with just you! Not only is it quiet outside, but you’re also accomplishing something in the process. It’s a great way to start your day.

Write down your Goals. So many people make New Year’s resolutions, but not everyone writes those bad boys down. I find that writing down your goals always helps you accomplish them. I also go back to previous years and re-read my long term goals as well. I’m always surprised and happy with everything I’ve accomplished. It’s REALLY great! It reminds me that I’m on the right path. So write those goals down, and make sure you re-read them throughout the year and cross them off once you’ve accomplished them. Don’t be afraid to revise them along the way, and celebrate your successes.
Meditate. Meditation is something I struggle with. It’s hard to get into and it’s hard to keep up with. It seems to be the first thing we set aside, BUT it’s great for you kids! It’s missing in a lot of our lives, not just my own. There are so many free meditation apps and podcasts, which means no excuses. You can also go to a meditation class, which will help guide through it. Meditation strengthens your mind! Start adding it weekly, then work up to a daily. I know I will!
The New Year fills us all with hope and new possibilities. But remember that we actually have to work at having a strong year. Arm yourself with the right tools and my 5 New Year’s Tips, and you’ll be a rock star this year!
