Holiday Rush: Set Aside ‘You Time’ Before the Holiday Craze!

October is gone and everyone is posting their holiday excitement. Before the holiday rush sweeps you away, let’s relax and set aside ‘you time.’ Avoid that holiday craze!

I love the holidays so much! Yet the holiday rush is real, as people are already longing for Christmas and most blogs completed Thanksgiving recipes weeks ago, giving way to Christmas cookies and more. Even though I love the journey, celebrating Thanksgiving and then making my way to Christmas, its critical to slow down, relax, and set aside ‘you time.’

I travel for the holidays, but I never let myself get caught in that holiday craze. I let the rush sweep past me and always make sure I have some ‘me time.’ Starting now will help ensure you enjoy this wonderful time of year. Here are some of my Fail Safe Tips!

Make sure you workout!

No matter how busy I am during the holiday season, I always workout! A lot of people fall into the trap of stopping exercise around the holidays and then get back into it for the new year. Don’t fall into the trap this year!

There are so many ways to workout without hitting up the gym or a class. If you can run outside, do that. Find a Youtube workout series, or a personal favorite of mine is to bring my jump rope everywhere with me. Jumping rope is a cheap, simple, and amazing workout! You can legit do it anywhere!

Start a meditation routine.

Meditation is something so useful and amazing. It’s also usually the first thing I let go of when I’m busy. This holiday season, set aside at least five minutes for meditation! Ten to fifteen would be ideal, but we all have five minutes to just de-stress and focus on ourselves. Meditation is amazing for you!

Go on an adventure!

Parties are super fun this time of year. Catching up with friends is too, but sometimes we need to just go on an adventure! It can be exhausting to have multiple weekends full of social obligations. I know I need to just escape and go on an adventure with my man if I have too many social engagements. It can be something as simple as going for a hike, or if you have the time, take a night or weekend getaway. Now is the perfect time for that!

Do something for you!

This varies depending on what you enjoy, but for me it’s setting aside the time to just sit on the couch with my man and catch up on our DVR and Netflix. It’s always super relaxing and so much fun! We also like to make something yummy to eat, or order delicious take out. We’re both really busy and this lets us just enjoy each other’s company by having a low-key night in.

I do these things all year long, but I make sure to implement them this time of year especially. I set aside some ‘me time’ and do not lose sight of myself! Stay healthy and happy kids. Make sure you set aside that ‘you time.’
