Get ready for a ton of missed opportunities in my Apartment 7a movie review, because they missed the mark! A Rosemary’s Baby prequel that strives to be the original, to its detriment.
Apartment 7a, the new horror thriller movie on Paramount Plus, is a complete missed opportunity. It’s the prequel to Rosemary’s Baby and it truly tries to emulate it. Why not build off of it, instead of copying the original? I can see why they made these choices, but I wish they’d have followed a whole other storyline. The story of how the Satanists got to the Bramford would have been a nice angle to pursue. They could have gone down the lines of Roman’s father, or at least made the movie scarier!

Apartment 7a tried to bring the creep factor and scare of the original, but it isn’t original and isn’t that creepy. That’s what was so great about Rosemary’s Baby; it was original. It also made you feel so uncomfortable, while being extremely simple.
Apartment 7a Movie Review: Watch Now
Julia Garner is of course fabulous! She always commits and goes above and beyond. The acting is very nice, but it can’t carry the complete film. Diane West is really good as Minnie. She stays true to the original and adds her own spin, but its not enough.

You definitely need to have seen Rosemary’s Baby to enjoy this film. They don’t expand on a few things because they assume you’ve seen the original. Apartment 7a definitely is a missed opportunity. Let me know what you thought and check out my review video.
