It’s all well and good to hit on your top guys; that’s what prevents a terrible season. But securing a truly great season is about finding sleepers. Sleepers come in many different categories, all of which have one thing in common. NO ONE believes in them… but you. Today we’re going to focus on the Resurgent Star Sleeper, players who were poor or worse last season but could have a resurgence in 2025. Where are the buy-lows? (ADP courtesy of FantasyPros)

Fantasy Football Resurgent Stars of 2025

QB CJ Stroud (Houston Texans)
Todd Salem: Is this one too obvious to start? Stroud was a revelation in his rookie season and then took a major hit last season. His offensive coordinator was fired, all his receivers got hurt, and his offensive line was straight-up bad. What did we want from him??
Entering 2025, with a new coordinator leading the offense, there are still questions about the health of the skill players and consistency of the o-line. But Stroud himself is the bet here. I don’t see this quarterback struggling mightily too years in a row.
He is being drafted outside the top 100 players, as QB18. In what scenario are there legitimately 17 quarterbacks better than this guy? I’m not buying it for a second.
TE Jake Ferguson (Dallas Cowboys)
Todd Salem: After a breakout second year in 2023, in which he finished as a top-10 tight end, Ferguson had a rough time last season. His quarterback was lost for much of the season, and he himself dealt with injury as well. He managed to play in 14 games, but the production was not there. He finished with fewer than 500 receiving yards and scored zero touchdowns.
With Dak Prescott back, a new head coach on the sidelines, and Ferguson himself fully healthy, I expect Ferguson to get back to top-10 TE status in 2025. He is being drafted outside the top 100 players, as the TE15, which is essentially waiver-wire fodder. I see much more coming from him than that.
WR Michael Pittman (Indianapolis Colts)
Todd Salem: For multiple years in a row, Pittman was a 1000-yard receiver, who saw 150+ targets at his apex. Last year, he lost 20% of that production despite playing the same number of games. He finished as WR43 last year: not even worth starting in 12-team leagues starting three receivers each.
What changes for ’25? Most obviously, a new QB was brought in to force Anthony Richardson to win the starting job. Competition, ideally, breeds excellence, garnering the best performances from whomever wins the job. In other words, the QB play for this team this season should be much improved. That alone helps Pittman. So does the fact that his head coach, the man responsible for the offense, is feeling the pressure to succeed.

There are no other great pass catchers on Indianapolis unless rookie TE Tyler Warren breaks out. The number-one option and 150+ targets are once again Pittman’s for the taking.

RB Breece Hall (New York Jets)
Dan Salem: Consider last season an anomaly for Breece Hall, who still played well in a pass-first offense that had difficulty doing most things, let alone doing them well with any consistency. Hall logged 1300 total yards and 8 touchdowns in 2024, but this was a steep decline from the expectations and numbers he set as a rookie. Tearing your ACL will do that to you, but if and when a player bounces back to his prior level almost always takes a full two seasons. Look out for Hall in 2025.

Not only is Hall completely past his injury, with a full year under his belt to regain his legs, but now he’s in a run-first offense with a running quarterback. No longer is Hall the only running threat in the backfield. Quarterback Justin Fields is just as big of a threat to run, plus Hall has a solid backup to ease his burden as needed. Once upon a time Hall was the only part of the Jets offense, because they didn’t have a QB that could utilize Garrett Wilson to his full potential. Now Hall finds himself in a balanced offense and he will thrive. Expect a bounce back to top 10 status among running backs, because now on most draft boards he’s sitting on the fringe at best.
WR Cooper Kupp (Seattle Seahawks)
Dan Salem: Kupp was a shell of his former production last season with a mere 700 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns. He became an accessory to the offense, but Kupp still possesses big play potential and the ability to be a number one receiver. He was brought into Seattle to be just that for Sam Darnold and I expect him to deliver.
While Kupp has often been injured, he enters 2025 fully healthy with a new outlook on life. Darnold proved last season in Minnesota that he can be great with a top receiver. The Seahawks have a solid core, but Kupp may put them over the top. Look for a 1000 yard season out of him.
