Are you excited about summer? Will you be refreshed and energized when it arrives? Don’t push yourself to the limit and burn out before the sunshine is plentiful. Make time for you with these eight great ways to treat yourself before summer arrives.

8 Ways to Treat Yourself

1. Book Spa Time

What better way to pamper yourself than a luxurious day at the spa. You can loosen up those tight muscles, decompress, and even get a Botox treatment to eliminate those frown lines from all the stress. The results of a Botox treatment will typically last you from three to six months before any additional treatments may be needed, so you can look and feel good straight through summer. Don’t forget to give your fingers and toes some well-deserved TLC with a relaxing manicure or pedicure.

If you can’t afford to go to a professional spa, bring one home to you. Light some candles, play your favorite music and give yourself a facial at home. Soak yourself with bath oils in a luxurious bubble bath. Spend time meditating or practicing a few yoga routines. Then finish your at-home pampering by watching the sunset with your favorite herbal tea in hand.

2. Embrace Something Fun

Pamper yourself by planning a fun activity you can enjoy. Consider looking for an engaging experience that may pull you out of your comfort zone. For example, you can join some of the approximately six million scuba divers currently active around the world for some underwater exploring. Plan a spontaneous road trip and explore new territory around where you live. Or gather your friends and make it a girl’s day at the beach.

Use your “me” time to explore things you’ve always wanted to try, but just couldn’t find the time for. You can use online sites like Groupon to help you save money on attractions and activities that are nearby. Check out a comedy show, conquer some rock climbing, or take surfing lessons. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

3. Indulge In Favorite Snacks

Treat yourself with something sweet to eat. Bake some cookies or stop by the cupcake shop on the way home from work. Hit up the grocery store and grab a ready-made platter of various cut-up fruits. Break out that pint of your favorite ice cream and grab a spoon. That cheesecake in the fridge is ready and waiting for you to eat. Let it pull you through a tough day.

Whatever you enjoy, take some time to splurge on your favorite treats alone. Wait until the house is quiet and your loved ones are asleep. You may have to find a way to hide your snacks so they can’t find them. I mean, who says you have to share? While savoring each delicious bite of your favorite chocolate, you can thank the Aztecs for introducing it to the Europeans way back in 1657. Indulging in your favorite sweets can make you feel more relaxed and happier, as long as you don’t overdo it.

4. Boost Up Beauty Sleep

With the whirlwind of activities you put yourself through on a weekly basis, catching some shuteye may be long overdue. Studies have shown that getting enough sleep can do wonders for your skin and provide numerous other health benefits. Make it a point to get at least eight hours of sleep at night. Your skin will look better and you’ll have more energy to tackle your day.

Try to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. Shut off all electronics at least an hour before bed to help you get to sleep faster. You can also catch up on your beauty sleep by taking a mini power nap. Studies have shown that taking a short nap can improve your memory, boost your mood, and increase your motor functioning. It’s best to take a nap in the early afternoon for no longer than 30 minutes.

5. Catch Up On Favorite Shows

Make time to catch up on your favorite TV shows that you’ve been neglecting for a while now. Order some takeout and grab your favorite drink. Then turn those lights down low and turn the volume up. Grab a blanket, snuggle onto the couch, and put your feet up for a night of adventure. Watch your favorite movie or binge watch that series your friends have been talking about. Personally, we love science fiction and are following several great shows right now!

6. Play Hooky

There are some days when you absolutely don’t feel like going to work. Trust those instincts! Once in a blue moon, take a day to treat yourself and call in sick. Then do whatever you want for the rest of the day, even if that means absolutely nothing at all. If you have some friends that you haven’t seen for a while and they have the day off, why not make some plans together?

7. Have An Overnight Getaway

Book a night at your favorite hotel with a pool and get a room that features a whirlpool tub or Jacuzzi. After you have your soak or swim, put on your fluffiest robe and settle in for an On-Demand movie. If you can, find a hotel that includes a free hot breakfast and carry a plate back to your room to eat while you’re in bed.

8. Take Yourself On A Date

Show yourself some love and plan a special night out on the town all by yourself. Dine at your favorite restaurant and go to a movie or your favorite concert. Sign up for a dance class and learn some new moves. Buy yourself flowers and write yourself a love letter. Treat yourself to the finer things just as much as you would to someone else you love.

It’s important to take time to treat yourself and unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Do whatever makes you happy and feel refreshed. Give yourself some personal time before the kids are off from school for the summer. You’ll keep burnout at bay and have more passion and energy to pursue your life goals.
