This is the aftermath of the Joe Colombo press conference. Charlie Bludhorn fires Al Ruddy. That is true. The details that surround it are embellished. Post the press conference Bludhorn and Gulf And Western didn’t scramble to try to sell Paramount post the Al Ruddy press conference. Gulf And Western was extremely upset.
Once they fire Ruddy, Bluhdhorn does shut down The Godfather production. This is a bit different in the show. Coppola is shooting the Christmas shopping scene, but otherwise everything else is different. Ruddy does not come to set and all that.

Bettye does not go to Joe Colombo. The whole part with that and Colombo shutting down the production to get Ruddy back is a dramatization. I liked that they added this into the show. They’ve definitely upped the Joe Colombo involvement for the show.
