The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Episode 3 | Toxic Masculinity

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 episode 3 dives into the toxic masculinity that is Gilead. This episodes definitely knocks Serena back down because she keeps ignoring the fact that the men of Gilead have a “No Girls Aloud” poster.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Episode 3 knocks Serena back down, because it shows us Gilead’s toxic masculinity. The governing men do not want women in the government. Even the women they like are considered weird. They want them to fall in line and follow the men’s order, because that’s how its done. Toxic! They have a big “No Girls Aloud” poster over the entire country.

Serena continues to think the men of Gilead will make an exception for her and having a role in the government. They are not and never will! They know she helped Fred, but they also know just how toxic Fred was and Serena is.

It’s amazing that Serena remains shocked by this. She tries to charm Commander Lawrence into wanting to marry her as a business arrangement. Commander Lawrence prefers to remain unmarried, lose power than marry Serena.
