Thankful NO MATTER WHAT: Happy Thanksgiving!

I love this time of year! There are a lot of crazy things happening in our country and the world right now, so staying thankful no matter what is essential! Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s super easy to lose sight of what matters during the year. I know I often get into my own world, but it’s essential that we remember all the good we have in our lives. This always works for me! Especially during this time of year when schedules get crazy, I always come back to that. Happy Thanksgiving indeed!

The past couple of Thanksgivings my husband and I decided to spend the holiday in Los Angeles. We used to head to the East Coast and stay with family, but instead chose to stay home and embrace a quieter time with our own small celebration with friends. I definitely miss spending Thanksgiving with our family, but I’ve had so much fun being the host! I make a full turkey dinner with all the sides and desserts. My man absolutely loves it and he loves the leftovers! I love seeing how happy this makes him! I’m so lucky to have him in my life and we are doing the holiday at home again this year, our last Thanksgiving just the two of us!

Not only do I have a wonderful man, but I have such an amazing family! Even though I haven’t spent Thanksgiving with them recently, it doesn’t change how grateful I am to have them in my life. In 2017 our family will be growing! Not only am I having a new little baby, but my sister is too. Both girls! My sister and brother have a son already, and having more children in the family will be so much fun. Now that it’s officially Thanksgiving, it makes me even more excited for Christmas when I get to finally see all of my family. Plus Christmas music!

I’m grateful to share Thanksgiving with some of my friends as well, because I have amazing friends! I’ve truly felt the love from so many of you these past couple of months since announcing our pregnancy. It means so much to me. Thank you! Sometimes we forget to express how much we care about each other, which is just silly. We should all be so lucky to have truly wonderful friends and people in our lives!

That right there is the real importance of this time of year. It’s what makes the holiday season so special. Sure, having all that food is fun and maybe the events that followed the first Thanksgiving were not our forefathers finest hour. But giving thanks for all that we have in our lives is wonderful! It’s something we really should do all year long, but at least we can hold it close to us from Thanksgiving through the end of the year.

No matter what is going on in your life, let it go! What really matters in our lives are those we surround ourselves with. It’s those people who will continue on in memory once we’re not around. It’s those who will remember us and tell our stories. Treasure those moments with your family and friends. I know I am going to!

I’m thankful for this wonderful Thanksgiving, sharing it with my family and friends far and wide. It’s the last Thanksgiving where my hubby and I will be a family of two. It’s exciting and I am going to enjoy every moment of it! Happy Thanksgiving!
