“They said what?” – Sports quote game (rnd 5)

Seesaw Sports, where Dan Salem and Todd Salem throw down on the NFL, MLB, NBA and more. Two brothers from New York yell, scream and debate sports.

August brings us round five of They said what?

Will Dan catch up, or will Todd pull away for good? And how many rounds will the game go until a winner is crowned?

The rules at Seesaw Sports are as follows: Player one presents player two with a sports quote.

– The quote can be about sports
– Can be said by a famous sportsman
Can be both about sports and said by a famous sportsman, but NEVER neither one

The quote is given, along with three hints as to who said it. These hints can be anything from when the quote was uttered to facts about the speaker.

Player two then responds with their guess as to who said it and a brief explanation surrounding their conclusion. A correct guess is worth one point for player two. An incorrect guess is worth one point for player one.

The score after 4 rounds: Todd – 5 points and Dan – 3 points

[Round 4.1]  [Round 4.2]

TODD:

Time for me to pull away. Good luck brother.

“I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out.”

Hint one: This person did not play professional sports.

Adults playing boardgames

Hint two: He has been in movies, but that is not his primary profession.

ToyStory

Hint three: Historically, this person is seen as under-appreciated, even personally and famously admitting as much himself.

no-respect

DAN:

Not sure if you’re trying to trick me with the professional sports line in hint one, but I’ll take it at face value. He/she did not play sports.

Hint two is little help. Lots of famous people have been in movies. This quote is getting harder.

And your final hint does me no favors. I’m sure its meant to provide information related to the speaker, but I got nothing from it.

My first thought was of a musician. Too obvious and too many choices. A year for this quote would have been nice, but this isn’t a fair game. Also, I consider Olympic athletes to be professional. Hopefully you do as well. I scoped my answer to things you know I like, which didn’t help much. Here goes nothing.

This quote was uttered by Mike Greenberg, the host of Mike and Mike in the morning on ESPN and ESPN Radio. I probably watch the show too much, as I just heard that last line read aloud in Greenie’s voice…

TODD:

You managed to guess a non-athlete and someone who is funny. Unfortunately Mike Greenberg is not usually funny on purpose, unlike the man who actually said this quote. Wrong answer.

The man who actually said this is a famous comedian. The one and only Rodney Dangerfield, a self-proclaimed man of no respect.

I tried to throw you a bone with my final hint, but putting ‘No Respect’ in my own words was enough to trip you up and win me yet another point. Pulling away!

No Respect_Dangerfield

DAN:

Oh man! That went completely over my head. It’s only fair to follow up a hard quote like that with one equally as challenging. Its go time. (No, that’s not my quote)

Score after 4 1/2 rounds:
Todd – 6 points
Dan – 3 points
