Running Goals: Stay Accountable with Year End Success!

No matter your level of running, you definitely have running goals. But the best part is, you’re always changing as a runner. Now is the time to stay accountable and set end of the year goals!

Diary of a Running Chick: September 11th, 2017

Running is ever changing for me and you alike. Each part of the year is different, so I set different running goals. This year, during the first four months, my goal was simple. All I wanted to do was continue running throughout my pregnancy. Success! I was psyched when I reached that running goal, and I knew that having a baby would sideline me for a bit, making it even sweeter. My follow-up goal was to get myself back into running around a month postpartum. I successfully accomplished that too!

Having those running goals made it extremely easy for me to stay accountable. This time of year is a perfect time to reevaluate your running goals to stay accountable through the final months. I always transition my running goals around this time of year!

A big running goal of mine is to continue to up my miles. I’ve finally gotten into a good groove running with my baby. Our schedule is more consistent and she’s waking up less and less during the night, which makes it much easier for me to get out of bed in the morning. Being able to get out earlier means that I have the time to run farther!

Another big running goal, designed to keep me accountable, is to up my pace. I’ve been working on this one since my post pregnancy began. This is one of those goals that I know will take some time, but I have to keep working on. It’s on par with consistently running 30 miles a week, another goal of mine. Upping ones pace takes concentration, patience, and practice, but I’m determined to get back to my pre-pregnancy pace.

Running is something that I do for me. I love it and I always recommit myself during this time of year. It’s imperative to stay accountable through the end of the year. I’ve always prided myself on being a person who even when life is busy, still keeps their personal priorities in tact. Running is just that and coming back to my running goals keeps me focused!

There is still so much time in the year, so even if you’ve let your running slide in the summer, you can still finish the year off strong! That could be your goal right there. It’s so simple. You want to get back into running. Get out there and focus on that running goal.

The weather is changing, so let that motivate you. Personally, I’ve been craving early morning chilly runs. It’s my favorite time to run, as I prefer running in the mornings in long pants and a long sleeve shirt. This alone makes me focus on my running goals even more. I’m at my perfect temperature. Living in Los Angeles allots me this a large portion of the year. It’s what truly makes me flourish as a consistent outdoor runner. Focus on your running goals! It will truly make you stay consistent through the end of the year.
