Restarting Your Fitness Journey Can Happen Now!

I’m a big advocate for it always being a perfect time to restart your fitness journey, no matter what time of year it is! Even though we’re over five months through this year, don’t let that deter you from jumping on the fitness bandwagon. Restarting your fitness journey can happen now!

No matter what your fitness goals are, don’t let them scare you. Embrace them completely and commit to accomplishing those goals right now. That’s really what you need on your fitness journey! Knowing that you can accomplish your fitness goals will give you confidence and arm you with the right mindset for success.

If you’re restarting your fitness journey, you want to make sure you set your fitness goals first. Set both long-term and short-term fitness goals. You want to have multiple goals you’re working toward so you can always be accomplishing one! Remind yourself that it takes time. If running is your goal and you’ve never run a mile before, then your first goal should not be to run six miles. It should be to go and run one mile. Also, don’t make your first goal to run five days a week. That’s a lot in the beginning. Make it your goal to run twice a week and increase it from there!

Remind yourself frequently that you’re creating a lifestyle change. When you add fitness into your life, you have to change the way you live. I always plan when I want to exercise, what I want to do, and when I can go out and do that exercise. That’s how I’ve committed to my fitness journey and been successful at it!

Be honest with yourself when you decide what type of fitness you’re dedicating yourself to. Are you going to go the classic route and hit the gym? Perfect! Make sure you’re going to like spending a lot of time at the gym. Personally, I love working out among other people and at the gym everyone is doing their own thing. Its fun that way! When I’m in my gym phase, I am super focused! I don’t go to the gym to be social. I go to the gym to get my workout on!

It’s important to decide whether or not you want to get an actual trainer, or use an online coach like we strive to be on our BuzzChomp channel. I’ve always wanted a trainer and at some point I’m definitely going to get one. Having someone create a workout plan for you, hold you accountable, and push you can really jumpstart your fitness journey!

Remember, your diet is just as important as your fitness. This one can be tough, especially if you have never watched what you eat. A good trainer will also help you create a health plan. Remind yourself again that it’s all a part of your lifestyle change. Changing what you eat can be rough initially, but it gets better! I used to be out of control on sugar. I really didn’t even think I was, but then I decided to go thirty days without added sugar and it completely changed my taste buds! They reset and I realized how full of sugar my diet had been. Now I know when it’s good to indulge and when I need to say no to sugar. I also don’t binge on sugar anymore, because things are just too sweet! Cutting back on sugar, or cutting out added sugar completely, will make you healthier and help your body hold less weight. You’ll see results so much faster!

Restarting your fitness journey is invigorating. Even if you’ve wanted to workout all year long and haven’t, it doesn’t matter. Let the past go and start your journey today! You’ll wonder why you didn’t start it sooner.
