Rejoice for Spring Running!

The best part about being a consistent runner is the changing seasons. This winter in Los Angeles was cold and rainy, pushing me to run in my least favorite weather. Now I’m rejoicing in spring running!

My Running Diary: March 22, 2019

Spring running is the absolute best, especially after a cold and rainy Los Angeles winter! If I time my morning just right, then I’m running as the sun comes up and honestly, that is the perfect way to start my day. I love it!

With spring in the air, it’s definitely time to reflect on how our winter running went. Los Angeles had an extremely rainy and cold winter, but even though it rained, I still got my bum outside and ran as much as I could! I even got stuck in a few rain showers. Time to embrace the sun!

When I look back at my running calendar, I didn’t miss more than two days in any given week all winter long. Now that its spring running, I can consistently run Monday through Saturday, with Sunday as my walk day. I love when I get on running stretches, and this winter I had a few weeks like this, where I timed my runs just perfectly to run prior to the rain and get out there every day.

Now that we’ve pushed the clocks ahead an hour, running in the 6am hour is my favorite hour to run. It’s still dark when I leave my house, but by the time I get back home, the sun shines. For me, it’s comforting to be out running while the sun rises. The day is just getting started and there are much less people out there. I love it!

The spring rejuvenates my fitness and it’s why I rejoice in spring running. The temperature is just perfect in the morning and I can run in light pants and long sleeves. That is my favorite way to run, besides a tank top and shorts during the summer.

Even if you take a look at your own running and don’t feel as proud and happy as I do, that doesn’t mean you didn’t have a successful winter of running. Everyone is different and just remember that applies to running too!
