Face washes are essential to your perfect skin care routine. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say they do not wash their face before bed, which always leads to skin problems. This is crazy! I use one primary face wash and two facial scrubs. All three are gentle on my skin.

You use just a little bit and it honestly lasts me a year, because I just use it twice a week. My hubby uses it too and it still lasts all year. It’s a bit on the “pricey” side, but you really only use a pea size amount and when you use it twice a week, it truly lasts.

Origins Modern Friction is the absolute best facial scrub I use. It’s strong and you only need a little bit, so I use it once a week. My mom turned me onto this and the first time I used it, she told me to be careful not to get it in my eyes. Of course I did and it hurt. So I give you warning, that it will sting so bad if you do. Otherwise, I use this every Sunday and it rejuvenates my skin. Just like Never A Dull Moment, it lasts all year and both my hubby and are using it.

STEP 2: ALWAYS USE MOISTURIZER (ON HANDS AND FACE, MINIMUM)
Everything I’ve learned about skin care, I learned from my mom. This is the second most important thing. Moisturize twice daily. When I was in elementary school my mom told me that I needed to start moisturizing my skin and thankfully I listened. Always put lotion on your face and hands before going to bed. Do it in the morning after washing as well. This prompted me to consistently lotion my whole body, not just my hands and face. Start with the basics and lotion twice daily.

This is my absolute favorite daily lotion because its light, but works incredibly fast. I’ve tried a lot of different ones from a lot of different companies, yet I always come back to this one. You can use it all over your body. It has no smells, it blends in very nicely, and it’s not greasy. I like finding multi packs on Amazon because then I don’t have to worry about buying it for a while when I run out.

This is another product that I’ve used for years, applying it in the mornings to my face. It’s very light and barely has any smell. Plus, it doesn’t make your face feel like you have sunscreen on it all day. I use this every morning, but right now I find myself out of it and needing to reorder. Buy a multi pack so you don’t end up like me right now.

Wishful Honey Balm
Recently I got a sample of this balm from Sephora and I absolutely love it. I love the way it made my skin feel, because it was just the right amount of thickness and applied easily. Sometimes I find balms to be too heavy for my skin, but this one is perfect. This will be my new nightly moisturizer for my face.

STEP 3: SKIN SERUMS AND SPRAYS
I’ve used a lot of different skin serums and facial sprays, but only a few have joined my skin care routine. Currently I use the under eye cream below and it’s a keeper. Same goes for the below facial spray. I always apply at least one eye cream in the morning and in the evening. Sometimes I have a separate one specifically for night time use, but right now I’m using the same one. There are a few other serums I have and also like, which I’ll be doing ta separate article on, detailing my experience with each one.
La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Under Eye Cream
I love this under eye cream most of all. I’ve used a few variations of this product, as La Roche-Posay offers a few other similar eye serums. This product is perfect for using at night and in the morning before I put any moisturizer on.

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water
This is definitely one of the most bougie products that I own, but once you try this spray it’s hard to stop using it. The really great thing about La Roche-Posay is that you don’t really need to use a lot of their product, so they last awhile. That goes the same for this facial spray. One half spray is all you need for your entire face. You don’t have to go over board. It’s seriously my favorite product!

STEP 4: SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN
The daily face moisturizer I use has SPF in it, but that’s not enough for the summer months. I make sure I have other sunscreens that I use daily for whenever I head outdoors. Living in Southern California means the sun is strong and I need sunscreen all year round, but everyone needs it from late Spring until early Fall. More advice from my mother: The sun ages our skin and you need to protect yourself from it. Take that to heart and always put sunscreen on before you go outside, especially when wearing short sleeves.

No matter where I go, I wear sunscreen. My skin attracts the sun and I always make sure that I protect it. This is a great sunscreen because it rubs in nicely and protects great. It’s easy to apply and spread around. Since I love taking my kiddies to the beach, I always put this on before I go and bring it with me. There is a lot in the bottle and it takes a lot of people using it all at once to go through the bottle quickly.

You really want to protect your face from the sun. Adding an additional sunscreen is very wise, especially if you’ll be in the sun all day. STEP 5: FACE MASK ONCE A WEEK
This is my favorite part of my skin care routine. I really like masks and I have used them at least once a week since I was young. That said, it’s been hard for me to stay consistent with them over the years. After falling off the wagon many times, I’m proud to say I have fully integrated face masks into my routine. I now use a mask at least one week, depending on how my face feels.

This mask is new to my life, but I absolutely love it. My hubby got this from my mom (of course) for Christmas and its really made with chunks of avocado! My face got so dry after spending two weeks on the east coast for the holidays and this mask immediately fixed my skin. When we got back to SoCal it was cold and rainy, making my face even more dry. I was starting to get worried, but this mask saved the day. The name is on point, because it hydrates your skin so well. My face glows after I use it!

SKIN CARE ROUTINE WRAP UP
My perfect skin care routine has taken me years to perfect, but now I’ve got it. Since my skin is more dry and sensitive than most, it requires a gentle and clean touch. The above routine has been in my life for a long time and the results are amazing. Occasionally I’ll switch out a product or add in a product, but I normally stay with this routine. It’s definitely a commitment, but after a week of doing it, it becomes extremely routine.
What’s nice about all of these products is that you don’t need to use a lot of them, so they last. Some of them are a bit pricier, but you don’t have to buy them all at once. Spread out implementing them into your routine. I rarely implement more than one product at time. Sometimes I do two, but that is my limit. I normally do it over a few weeks period as well.
Remember to protect your skin, especially your face, because the sun damages your skin. That damage is what makes you look older. Wear a hat when you go out in the sun, especially if you’ll be out longer than 10 minutes. Always wear sunscreen, especially on your face! Wash up at night and moisturize daily. Be on your way to glowing young, healthy skin.
