Licorice Pizza review is here and I totally enjoyed this quirky and charming romance. The newest film from Paul Thomas Anderson set in the valley of Los Angeles once again. When you break this film down it is a sweet coming of age romance.

Watch My 30 Second Review

The film stars Alana Haim who plays Alana, and Cooper Hoffman, who plays Gary, as they traverse the valley in the 70s. Gary is a child star and Alana is a directionless young woman who befriends Gary and this sweet and innocent romance ensures. Both Haim and Hoffman, the son of the later Phillip Seymour Hoffman, make their feature film debut. It’s also a family affair as Haim’s sisters, who are her band mates from the group Haim, as well as her parents are in the film.

This film is definitely a slice of life film capturing a moment in time that does not exist anymore. Gary is a 15 year old boy and Alana is a 25 year old women, but the time, their attitudes, and where they are at in life make this story so charming. Once again Paul Thomas Anderson captures Los Angeles so perfectly and the nostalgia is amazing.

Licorice Pizza has an amazing cast. Bradley Cooper is fabulous and Sean Penn is absolutely hilarious. I really enjoyed this film and the journey it took us on. Share with me your thoughts and make sure you watch our quick review.
