The first season of His Dark Materials was a twisted journey that mostly covered book one of the series, but also pulled from the other books and never stood still. Lyra’s adventure was full of surprising twists and lots of death, as well as magic that no one understands. My recap cliff notes of season one hit all the major plot points, with an eye towards season two.

We began with a young girl and her best friend, but ended with the chosen one stepping into another universe. Witches, bears, multiple universes and one alethiometer in the hands of our hero. Nothing was simple for Lyra and Will in season one of His Dark Materials. These cliff notes are simple though, attempting to follow the show from episode to episode.
