The perfect dark sci-fi fantasy does exist. His Dark Materials spins a unique fantasy world into a dark and sinister tale of pure science fiction delight. I’m very excited for this show! Adapting book series can be tricky business, but His Dark Materials offers not only an original trilogy, but a new series that takes place both 10 years prior and 10 years after the events of this show. That leaves room for so many awesome surprises!
Lyra is an orphan with a unique ability, as well as a shape shifting animal soul companion. Her daemon is also special, but how she unravels the evil plot and jumps between universes with her golden compass is completely unknown. I avoided the books so I would be surprised. Now I’m following this dark new series as it unfolds!
