Magic was unleashed upon His Dark Materials in episode 4. We always knew of its existence, but now with the full power of the alethiometer at work, magic has permeated every crack of Lyra’s existence. Giant bears and witches and the power of Magisterium are about to collide!

His Dark Materials is doing a great job of keeping secrets from us, until they subtly drop it upon us and then its immediately common knowledge. Marisa captured Lord Azreal and dropped her search for Lyra like a bad habit. Lee has joined the Gyptians and power hunger appears to be breaking the Magisterium in half.
