Embrace Quick and High Intensity Workouts! Fitness is Life

I love getting a long and intense workout in, but let’s face it, we’re all busy. Some days you don’t have time for a long workout. That doesn’t mean you have to skip your exercise. It’s time to embrace quick and high intensity workouts.

I’ve read more and more recently about the benefits of quick workouts. These high intensity workouts can burn even more calories after you’re done working out, even if you’re sedentary the rest of the day! I know for me, sometimes when I feel like I don’t have time in the day for a true workout, I neglect the quick workout. That’s just silly!

The best part about these quick and high intensity workouts is that you can do them ANYWHERE. As long as you have a little space, you’ll be able to get a great workout in. An excellent quick and intense workout is alternating between 20 second jump rope and 20 second mountain climbers. Definitely do at least 8 reps, but more is even better! If you do 8 reps, this will take you only four minutes. We all have four minutes in our day. Start out there and then work your way up to ten minutes, then fifteen, then twenty.

If you’re really limited on time, choose one exercise and go all out for two and a half minutes. Try doing as many jumping jacks as you can for those two and a half minutes. It’s such a short amount of time that there is no reason for you not to push yourself to your limits!

If you have ten minutes, then pick out four exercises and do them each for two and a half minutes. Try burpees, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and froggers. These four exercises are a perfect combination. It’s only ten minutes, so for your first time doing it, try not to rest! By the end of the fourth exercise, you are going to be worn out and feel so great. Don’t feel like you need to be married to the above exercises. You could try jump rope, high knees, or running up and down stairs. Those are all great exercises that will get your heart moving and go well with this group of high intensity workouts.

Remember, you don’t have to spend an hour working out. You don’t even have to spend thirty minutes if you don’t have it. This is something that most people fail to embrace. I get it. I love my long workouts, but I know I can equally love and embrace the quick and intense workouts. They are just as beneficial as my long ones.

Separate yourself from how you used to think about working out. High intensity workouts are amazing, so forget that you NEED to get your thirty minutes in. Unchain your mind from your need to go to the gym, workout class, bike ride, or run. There are other great ways to get your workout in. You don’t have to leave your home. All you need to do is push your body as hard as it can go! When you’re done you are going to feel amazing, especially if you wake up and do one of these workouts first thing in the morning.

Throw away the restrictive thinking of how you are supposed to exercise. Short and intense is awesome. Embrace quick and high intensity workouts. They will be your go to style of workouts on your busiest of days!
