Content Marketing is One Big Party

Content marketing defined by Wikipedia: “is an umbrella term encompassing all marketing formats that involve the creation and sharing of content in order to attract, acquire and engage”. Now, engage is the keyword here. You want people to engage, i.e. share, comment, and bookmark your content.

I’d like to get down to the basics of it. You are throwing a party but not just any party — a party where everyone is talking about what they like or perhaps what they don’t like. Having fun while sharing information. I’ve heard it said it’s like high school in terms of it’s a popularity contest. It’s more than that — it’s Vegas.

Think of Mashable, Facebook, and Google+ as the big casinos. They’re not serving you drinks; they’re feeding you content of your particular interest. Keeping you interested so you will stay for a long time or at least come back to get your fix. Mashable is the Bellagio of tech and social media content. They have great shows, and their Twitter shots are amazing. Facebook is the Mandalay Bay, a resort where people want to stay for a long time. Google+ … uhh, the MGM Grand. You get the point. You want your content to be fun, engaging, a party where people enjoy getting their information.

Here at Buzzchomp we are starting to build our casino. What kind of party are you throwing?
