Get your *glow* on this summer with 3 skin clearing Juice recipes!

5 years ago, I absolutely hated my skin.

I had been struggling with ridiculously annoying breakouts for almost 15 years and I was So. Freaking. Over. It.

The final straw was my worst (and final) dermatology appointment.

I had an appointment to see a younger-ish woman (30s maybe) and I remember hoping that she’d understand why my skin problems embarrassed me SO much (being young and a woman herself) . I thought she could finally be “the one” to help me with my skin.

Instead, after I listed all of the antibiotics, topical creams, birth control pills and hormones for acne that I had tried she simply cocked her head to the side, looked at me sadly and said “You’ve tried everything. I dunno what else we can do for you. We do have a laser treatment for 500$ a session but I can’t guarantee it’ll work….”

I left that appointment in tears (totally cried all the way home and yelled at her in the car) BUT, that experience ended up being the very best thing that ever happened to me.

Because that day, I decided to go home and throw out EVERYTHING I had been told about my skin and decided to heal myself, from the inside-OUT.

This led me on an amazing journey to understanding my body so, so much better, but most importantly, it helped me understand that what I was eating, was affecting my skin.

If you still struggle sometimes with breakouts (and think to yourself: “ I’m 25-28-30 years-old-this-is-ridiculous-this-should-be-gone-by-now”) read on my love.

One of the most IMPORTANT steps I took to healing my acne/breakout problems naturally was that I started to *juice*.

Now. If you have the interwebs, you’ve most likely heard about the green juice craze and/or had a few sips yo’self. There are a ton of recipes out there but I wanted to help you specifically with some skin-loving-juice-recipes.

Quick guide: when I work with clients who are having persistent breakouts/acne, I find that they’re most likely having skin problems that stem from one (or a combo) of the issues below:

1. Blood sugar maintenance issues

2. Digestion issues or

3. Hormonal imbalances

Make a quick assessment about what you might be struggling with and try one of my 3 favorite juice recipes that matches below to help your skin glow a bit brighter this summer!

1. Blood sugar maintenance issues:

If you have a major sweet tooth (and some breakouts to boot) grab this green juice to keep your sugar intake low while get some juicy-green-goodness going:

Jilly’s Low Sugah Juice

2 cucumbers (peeled if not organic)

1 bunch kale

4 stalks celery

½ green apple

½ lemon squeezed

2. Digestion issues:

If you think you’ve got some digestion stuff going on (things aren’t really, ahem, movin’ too well) grab this juice. ‘Twill get you “going” for sure:

“Let’s get-this-pahty-stahted” juice

1 apple

4-6 carrots ( depending on size)

2 stalks of celery

1 cucumber

1-2 beets

1 handful of parsley

3. Hormonal issues:

If you think you have some hormonal stuff going on, grab this deeLISH juice blended with an avocado (this is one of my all-time-favorite-juices-in-the-whole-wide-world). Eating an adequate amount of saturated fats is necessary to help regulate our hormones and avocados are one of the healthiest ways to get that in your diet.

Healthy “Fat” Juice

JUICE:

1 green apple

1 large handful of spinach

¼-½ pineapple

BLEND

with 1 avocado
