Last year Dior gave us what might be their most amazing commercial ever. It was for J’adore parfume, stared Charlize Theron and was filmed in the ‘Galerie des Glaces’ at the ‘Château de Versailles’ by Jean-Jacques Annaud. And while those things alone would make it an amazing commercial, they went above and beyond that, giving us unmatched glamour by digitally adding Grace Kelly (a loyal Dior client in the days Christian Dior was still alive), Marlene Dietrich (Christian Dior designed Marlene Dietrich’s dress for the 1951 Oscars), Marilyn Monroe (a good friend of Christian Dior and huge fan of his dresses) and Dovima (model who posed the first evening dress designed for Christian Dior).
It’s a great idea marketing wise, because it grabs your attention like no other modern commercial out there. And it’s wonderful to know that these classic, beautiful stars are still capturing our attention and hearts. The fact that these ladies are still relevant all these years later is a perfect example of how the classic, 50’s, glamorous pin up look is completely timeless.
