Change Your Running Perspective: My Running Diary

Often times I get stuck in the same running perspective. It happens to us all because its hard to pull yourself out of your daily routine. Time to change your running perspective!

Diary of a Running Chick: March 20th, 2017

Changing your running perspective can happen in several ways. For me, moving did it immediately. I just moved to a new home, and while I only moved down the street, it has changed my route a bit. Where I start from and where I end is now completely different. That alone makes the run feel completely different and I love that! I’ve also started to think about how I can lengthen my runs and change them even more. I’m excited for the change to my running perspective and full of new ideas!

There are so many more ways to change your running perspective. Another great one for me is the fact that I only have two weeks left in my pregnancy. I’m still feeling great while I run, which is awesome! Earlier this year it had been a bit uncomfortable to run with all the pressure, but now that she has settled and spread out inside, it is so much better running. There are times that I can even run a little faster, but my belly does get heavy and then I remember that I’m pregnant!

For many of you, spring brings a whole new perspective to running. Hopefully the weather has warmed up a bit, and with daylight savings time you can totally run after work and it won’t be dark! That simple little change can completely change your running perspective. It can invigorate your runs, especially if you’re a nightly runner!

There are also things you can do just with your mindset to change your running perspective. If you’re new to running, I truly love setting goals and pushing the boundaries of those running goals. Running can be extremely intense in the beginning and there are moments when you feel like you can’t go any farther. Those are the moments when you need to push yourself farther. You need to tell your body to keep going. That’s going to completely change your running perspective. If you’ve set out to run 1.5 or 2 miles, why not push it that extra half mile? You’ll be surprised how easily you’ll be able to do this! It’s going to completely change your running perspective and that is amazing.

Running is fun! I talked about this last week, but it’s easy to get complacent and dread getting your run in. Let that go! Embrace the fun and it will completely change your perspective. You’ve decided to be a runner and it’s always important to remember why you did, and to make sure that motivation is also driven by the fun aspect. How exciting is it when you’ve run 10 miles or even more? It’s amazing and so exciting! Embrace that.

Change your running perspective! There are so many ways to do this. It really depends on where you’re at in your life, but you don’t have to stay stagnant. I love change and I’m going through so many changes right now in my life and in my running life! I feel it’s always great to embrace those changes, and what better way to do that than to change your running perspective.
